ONE LINE ALL THE THINGS!!!!!
:%s:\(.*extras\):#\1:g | %s:/.*ubuntu.com://repo.devlan.net:gFYI, replacing extras.ubuntu.com to repo.devlan.net will cause an error because you now have two repos defined for "$release main". The vim replacement above comments out the two extras lines before replacing all of the ubuntu.com URLs

With vi editting /etc/apt/sources.list you can also use:
:%s/us.archive.ubuntu.com/repo.devlan.net/gi
:%s/security.ubuntu.com/repo.devlan.net/gi
:%s/extras.ubuntu.com/repo.devlan.net/gi

Well then at least make it one line ;p
# got rid of extras.ubuntu.com because it never works for me anyway sudo sed -i.orig -e 's/\(.*\)extras/#\1/g' -e 's:/.*u.com://repo.devlan.net:g' /etc/apt/sources.list -

Feh. Somehow just not as greybeardy as using sed. GET OFF MY LAWN

Or just...
# as root echo "10.2.0.222 us.archive.ubuntu.com security.ubuntu.com extras.ubuntu.com" >> /etc/hosts -

# works for all ubuntu releases, and is a hell of a lot easier... # run as root: sed 's/us.archive.ubuntu.com/repo.devlan.net/' < /etc/apt/sources.list > /tmp/sources.list sed 's/security.ubuntu.com/repo.devlan.net/' > /etc/apt/sources.list < /tmp/sources.list
