Cross-compile for Linux/TILE-GX
MikroTik's line of Cloud Core Routers (CCM) utilize MikroTik's RouterOS with a 16-core TILE-GX processor. The motivation was to cross-compile software for this OS/architecture variant. The first toolchain (running as a VMVirtual Machine on foxtrot.edb.devlan.net with hostname tilegx-builder) described below was verified to work with the MikroTik CCR-1016-12G running RouterOS 6.27. The CCR-1016-12G is a 1U rackmount switch/router with 16-cores, 1.2GHz TILE-GX processor and twelve 1Gbps ethernet ports. The CCR-1016-12G's version of RouterOS 6.27 is a 64-bit kernel with 32-bit userspace. For a C library, it uses glibc rather than uClibc (like RouterOS 4.X and 5.X).

- RB-60-TILEGX-CC.tar.gz –file is the gzipped compressed gcc cross compiler for the tilegx architecture. The cross compiler includes a compiler for building 64-bit kernel modules and a compiler for building 32-bit user mode executables
- executables.
- Installing – The compiler has to be installed in /usr/local. The 64-bit compiler is installed in /usr/local/rb-6.0-tilegx-unknown-linux-gnu and the 32-bit compiler is installed in /usr/local/rb-6.0-tilegx-unknown32-linux-gnu. The installation steps are:
- cd /usr/local
- tar xf RB-60-TILEGX-CC.tar.gz
- sudo ./install.sh
- Using the cross compilers
- Build Host – The build host is assumed to running a 64-bit version of Ubuntu 14.04 with the appropriate 32-bit packages installed.
- Compiling kernel modules
- add /usr/local/rb-6.0-tilegx-unknown-linux-gnu/bin to PATH
- add CFLAGS_MODULE=-fno-asynchronous-unwind-tables to your kernel module Makefile
- use prefix tilegx-unknown-linux-gnu- when calling gcc, ld and binutils
- Compiling user modules
- add /usr/local/rb-6.0-tilegx-unknown32-linux-gnu/bin to PATH
- add /usr32/lib to LD_LIBRARY_PATH
- add –m32 to CFLAGS and to LDFLAGS
- use prefix tilegx-unknown32-linux-gnu- when calling gcc, ld and binutils
- Libraries
- Cross Compiled Libraries – The cross compiler includes 32-bit versions of openssl version 1.0.0.e and zlib version 1.2.3.
- Libraries used by the cross complier – Below is the contents of /usr32/lib on a 64-bit build server used to build 32-bit binaries

- The list of required 64-bit libraries is probably the same as the 32-bit list.
- 32-bit Libraries:
- Source Code – The kernel source code is in /usr/local/src.
- Notes –The kernel modules are built using BUILD_CONFIG which may or may not be what you want. The task_struct data structure does not align with the OEM.
- Changes –The primary change made is that kernel configuration file BUILD_CONFIG more closely matches the configuration used by the OEM. Fields in the sk_buff data structure appear to align with fields used by the OEM.
